Dr. Godpower W. Obah, B.Sc., M.Sc.,
PhD, FCNA, ACTI, AMNAA
DR. OBAH was born into the family of late Pa Sampson and Madam Janet Chukwu (Nee Wori) as the third son at Elele – Alimlni in lshlnbam clan of lkwerre Ethnic Nationality in the present day Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. He attended State
School 1 (one) Elele – Alimini, for his primary Education and County Grammer School, Ikwerre /Etche for his Post Primary and later gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt to study Accounting in 1989.
He graduated with Second Class Honours. He proceeded to Benue State for his National Youth Service Corps where he diligently completed his service in 1995.
He joined the services of the University of Port Harcourt in 1997 as Accountant 11 and rose through the ranks to the position of Acting Bursar, the position he occupies till date.
He returned to the classroom and obtained MSc in Accounting in 2015, PhD Accounting in 2021.
Dr. Obah is currently a Fellow of both Association of National Accountant of Nigeria
(ANAN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He possesses strong ability to communicate effectively, analyse, evaluate, integrate and take reliable decision on crucial issues with unalloyed frankness.
His hobbies are: Reading, Travelling, indoor games and internet researching.
Dr. Obah is married to Dr Mrs. Patience Obah and the marriage is blessed with three
(3) daughters and two (2) sons.
His vision is to gain scholarship optimally and offer leadership conscientiously in link with global best practice in an atmosphere of justice, equity and fair play for the benefit Of hUMariity.
Dr Obah assumed duty as the Acting Bursar of the University on January 1, 2024 and also became an Acting Director of U and C Microfinance Bank. He sits on the Board of u and C MicrofinanceBank as a member and Chalrman of Finance and Governance committee (F&GC).
